Hello World
I have received quite a few emails about rebuilding the family tree and I am working on it. I do still have a the family tree raw data with I think 40,000 names, and I am currently working on rebuilding the online family tree with some important changes:
- Privacy for those who want it. Many family members were concerned about privacy, and although there were never any incidents that I heard about, I want to keep living individuals information private except to those who are authorized.
- Collaboration so everyone can add to the family tree. I’ll be honest the tree is at least a decade out of date. I no longer have the time to add hundreds of new names monthly, but if everyone just added their family and their cousins it could be rebuilt in no time.
- Integration with other software. This website is now written with WordPress, it’s easy and fast, but the family tree needs to integrate with WordPress, Facebook and other social media sites. The big issue is if you want to edit the family tree or different parts of the website you should have just one user/password. Last time the site had multiple user/passwords and it was very difficult to manage.
- Finally it has to be easy to use.
Now for those of you who are looking for a Bilodeau Family Tree right now Jean-Claude Bilodeau has the biggest one I know. It’s in French and not very user friendly but here it is.
If any one knows of any good examples of a quality working family tree site, please let me know in the comments.
Thanks
Hi Jim
Guess I forgot to mention to you that our Association’s website changed last September and is now located on a new server.
Regarding the family tree, I wanted to publish it in English but all the sites that accepts such data also require you to pay for searches, since I am completely against such manners I prefer to offer what we have free of charge. Of course dates of living persons have all been removed.
People can also find the same info on a French website at: http://www.geneanet.org/
Our last update now includes over 108,963 names and 45,780 marriages.
Have a good day
Jean-Claude Bilodeau
On my last message I forgot to mention in the comments sections our new website, here it is:

It is available in French and English

I’ve been doing research on a few sites and building a tree in Ancestry.ca.
Several anomalies show up and wondered if anyone has an answer
Jeanne Fleurie (Fleury) married two brothers Anthoyne (Anthoine) and Pierre Billaudeau. Since she has two children by Anthoyne and one (Jacques) from Pierre, I would assume that Anthoyne died and she married Pierre. The records indicate, however, that both Anthoyne and Pierre died on the same day which is unlikely and it would mean Jeanne was married to both at the same time. Any ideas?
Thanks…
What do you think about the possibility that the Bilodeau family could be Jewish (based on the fact that they appeared out of nowhere in the 1600′s – at the same time the Sephardic Jews were ejected from Spain) ? Has there been testing to see if we are Jewish?
Hey Daniel, the answer is genetically I think we are closely related. Actually, closely might be inaccurate there maybe a 1000 to 5000 year split from our Jewish cousins, we could have split before the religion even existed. But we are of haplo group G which has some Jewish and middle eastern roots, I have new genetic tests being done to maybe get some finer details.
The good news is DNA tests are getting cheaper and covering more information almost on a daily basis, we well solve these mysteries soon I hope.
Actually, I just read an article that said the Jews were kicked out of Spain in 1490 which means this is less likely than I thought. Uncertain.
